Tripentaerythritol is short for TRI-PE. It is a white, odorless and crystalline powder. Tripentaerythritol is slightly soluble in water but insoluble in ethanol and acetone etc. TRI-PE is a by-product of pentaerythritol production. Tripentaerythritol can be got under the condition of acid and alkaline formaldehyde, acetaldehyde via aldol condensation reaction.
The new technological process of separating tripentaerythritol from the condensation liquid includes vacuum sucking filtering to make tripentaerythriol adsorbed to the other wall of sucking filter, washing to eliminate monopentaerythritol, dipentaerythritol and sodium formate; moving the sucking filter to unloading tank, cutting off vacuum and blowback to unload tripentaerythritol and final drying. The sucking filter of the present invention consists of end plate, tube plate, small tube plate, filtering tube and tubelet. Compared with available technology, the present invention has the advantages of high separation effect, low ash content in tripentaerythritol, high quality of monopentaerythritol and dipentaerythritol products.
